International business studies is available for students seeking business knowledge in a broad range of disciplines necessary to conduct business in an international environment. Studies in international business prepare students for a wide range of positions in Australia and overseas where knowledge and skills are required in the fields of economics, finance, property and management. Honours
An Honours program is available for those students who demonstrate high academic performance. Honours consists of an extra year of study and the development of a personal research project and thesis. An Honours degree is usually essential for entry to research higher degrees. JCU's School of Business also offers a wide range of postgraduate study opportunities and has an active research program.

International Relations looks at our rapidly changing world in terms of the political, economic and social issues that affect all our lives. You will be introduced to key events and debates in contemporary International Relations and have the opportunity to study a number of relevant themes and issues.
These may include International Security, Peace and Conflict Resolution, North-South International Relations, International Political Economy, the United Nations, Refugee Studies, Foreign Policy, Theory and area studies such as Africa, Middle East and South East Asia.

The Department of International Cultures is the center for the study of Asian humanities with special focus on the Asian Culture, History and Art. In the curriculum, Asia is divided into four regions, East, South-East, South and West. Students choose one region and study the humanities subjects of the region comprehensively. At the same time, students study one regional language as a compulsory subject, which not only makes their daily study effective but also makes their 4-week study tour which is held at a university with whom the department has an academic agreement in each respective region fruitful.
