The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with International Management + Economics is a full-time six-semester course. It starts annually in the autumn semester.

Tuition (with the exception of non-English language-learning units) takes place entirely in English.

In terms of content, the course features a general management programme of approximately 120 credits and an exclusively international focus programme of approximately 60 credits. Moreover, students will have to pass an assessment level of two semesters before being able to continue their studies at bachelor level (semesters 3 to 6).

Outcomes
Knowledge and Understanding

The aim of the program is that the student shall:
- show broad knowledge and understanding in the subject fields of International Business and Entrepreneurship, and an in-depth knowledge in International business management and entrepreneurship with connection to current research and development work in the field,
- show deep insight into methodology in the fields of International Business and Entrepreneurship,
- show knowledge and understanding as to how the economy relates to social and ecological conditions for long-term sustainable development in a national as well as a global perspective,
- show knowledge and understanding for different approaches, cultures and traditions appearing in the academy, the business world and the public sector from a national as well as from a global perspective, but also for different approaches, cultures and traditions appearing between subjects and fields of science in the academy.
Aptitudes and Accomplishments

The aim of the program is that the student shall:
- show ability to integrate knowledge within and between the subject fields of International Business and Entrepreneurship, and to analyse, critically review and manage complex occurrences, inquiries and situations with particular accent on phenomena appearing at the interface between International Business and Entrepreneurship, also when the base of information is limited,
- show ability to independently identify and formulate inquiries within the subject fields of the education, and to plan, and with adequate methods perform, qualified tasks within a given time frame,
- show ability to orally and in writing, and in dialogue with various target groups, report on and discuss conclusions arrived at but also the knowledge and the arguments that underpin those conclusions,
- show ability to contribute to long-term sustainable development in the domestic as well as the global society,
- show such accomplishments that are needed for participation in research and development work or in other qualified operations,
- show ability to contribute to multidisciplinary cooperation between different study fields within the program as well as between various subject areas and fields of science in a wider perspective,
- show ability to contribute to collaboration between the academy, the business world and the public sector at a national level as well as on the international arena,
- show ability to understand different approaches, cultures and traditions when collaborating with others.
Ability to Evaluate and Assess

The aim of the program is that the student shall:
- show ability to make judgements within the subject fields of International Business and Entrepreneurship with accent on the subject field of International business management and entrepreneurship, while considering relevant scientific, societal and ethical aspects, and to show awareness in regard of ethical aspects on research and development work,
- show insight into opportunities and constraints relating to science, the role of science in society and man’s responsibility for the way science is utilized,
- show insight into the significance of long-term sustainable development of the global society,
- show ability to identify one’s own need for more knowledge and to take on responsibility for one’s own knowledge development.
Objectives

The program International Business and Entrepreneurship aims at rendering student participants a specialization in international business with particular focus on entrepreneurship in order to prepare for future professional work in an international business setting as well as for further academic studies. More precisely the objectives of the program are insight into theory and practice in relation to the internationalization of companies, international business strategy and the organization of international business, as well as deeper theoretical and practical understanding of the relationships between organizations and entrepreneurship where organizational change, knowledge, critical perspectives and interpretation are important aspects.

The program also aims at developing knowledge and skills in analyzing internationalization, organizations and entrepreneurship while assuming a process perspective. A markedly interactive study approach engages program participants in a large number of stage performances and seminar discussions with an aim of developing personal skills in regard to oral communication and argumentation. Finally, the program aims at cultivating skills in writing a master thesis work (15 credits) meeting prevalent scientific requirements.
Contents

The program opens with the course Management Theory and Research Methodology (15 credits). In this course main streams of thought with focus on management are approached and research methods in business studies are visited and elaborated.

In the subsequent course, International Business - some theoretical perspectives (15 credits), internationalization and international business enterprise are approached from various angles rendering different views of the phenomena under study. Organization Theory and Entrepreneurship (15 credits) focuses on entrepreneurship as well as the dynamics and interrelationship between entrepreneurship and organization. The concept of entrepreneurship is studied both in its contemporary and historical contexts. It is related to the organization of economic and social activities, and it is analyzed from different theoretical perspectives involving different methodological approaches.

To prepare students for writing their Master Thesis (15 credits) each study course includes elements addressing the theory and practice of scientific writing and methodology. The Master Thesis is to address a problem in the area of International Business, Entrepreneurship or at the best International Entrepreneurship. A connecting thought starting with the research problem ending in the conclusions, meeting decent requirements in respect of intelligibility, transparency and trustworthiness, should run through the thesis.

Special eligibility requirements

A completed Bachelor’s degree from an institution of higher education of three years or more, equivalent to at least 180 credits (180 ECTS credits) within the field of Social Science, Science or Technology. English B is required for Swedish students. Foreign students are required to submit a TOEFL test result, minimum score 550 with a TWE score of at least 4 (PBT) or 79 with a TWE score of at least 17 (iBT) or an IELTS test result with an overall band score of minimum 6.0 and no band score below 5.0 or equivalent.

Choices within the program

The program International Business and Entrepreneurship consists of a fixed combination of courses leaving no room for students to choose other courses within the program.

Internationalization

The program International Business and Entrepreneurship offers student participants broad experiences in regard to the phenomenon of internationalization. An interactive study approach enhancing exchange of values and thoughts produces highly valued experiences. Besides, students learn by meeting and socializing with other students coming from many different countries and continents. Living for almost a year in Sweden, a country often conceived of as markedly “exotic” especially by those coming from far abroad, gives insight into a different way of living and stimulates to comprehensively understanding a different culture.

Quality assurance

The quality of the program will be monitored by continuous evaluation among the teaching staff of the disciplines partaking in the program. Every course will be evaluated by the students at the end of the course in the form of a written (anonymous if preferred) statement and evaluation concerning course contents, parts and structure.
Student participation

Representatives for the students union are represented at the Board of Education and the Board of Management where strategic questions concerning the education are discussed. Each program has a coordinator who shall meet the associations for the programs and keep the daily contact with students.
