Course structure of International Business Management at Fachhochschule Beider Basel

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

The course takes three years to satisfy the requirements of the Université de Haute-Alsace (Licence d’Economie-Gestion). After successfully completing a further semester, students are awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Berufsakademie Lörrach and a Bachelor of Science degree in International Business Management from the Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz.

The course of study follows a dual system. In parallel with their theoretical studies students undertake periods of practical work experience in international organisations (so-called Live Projects), which must total at least 48 weeks over the course. During these Live Projects students receive valuable insight into the activities of their organisation and are given the opportunity to get involved in challenging projects. A minimum of 12 weeks of this work experience must be undertaken in a country where the student’s native language is not spoken.
In each course, groups of ten students each from France, Germany and Switzerland form a single tri-national group. Lectures and practical exercises in small groups, together with individual supervision, provide a solid basis for success. The most modern teaching and learning methods, combined with multi-media learning materials, ensure an educational experience of the very highest level.

Semester courses are held on a rotating basis in Colmar, Lörrach and Basel. Courses are held in French, German and English.

Assessment consists of written and oral exams, as well as an end-of-course thesis on which students are examined orally.
