The School of International Relations (the IR School) is the oldest school of MGIMO University of Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It trains highly-qualified professionals in the field of international relations and diplomacy for Russia’s Foreign Ministry, its missions abroad, state departments and agencies, public organizations, legislative and executive bodies of power.

The school curriculum provides that students should study two foreign languages from the first year at MGIMO. The IR School trains diplomats, political analysts and consultants for various spheres: Russia’s Foreign Ministry, state departments and agencies, international organizations (such as UNO, UNESCO, OSCE, CIS, etc.); non-governmental entities (big and medium-sized business companies, political parties and public organizations; consultancies, analytical, research and educational centers; mass media; international and Russia’s non-governmental organizations, etc.).

The School of International Relations offers BA and Specialist (4+1 years) degrees in “International Relations” and “Regional Studies and Diplomacy”.
