COURSE INFORMATION
Working in a large, modern, international organisation, a medium sized company or even a small start-up firm requires a range of business capabilities. The most valuable employees are those who have not only a sound knowledge and understanding of the various parts of a business but those who are quick learners and team players with leadership potential. The MSc Business with Management programme will give students both the general business knowledge and understanding as well as the personal skills needed for a wide variety of roles.
The programme has been developed for recent graduates in non b business disciplines who wanted to add a business dimension to their undergraduate specialism. This programme has been very popular and has recently been extended by the addition of several pathways. Students can now choose between a general pathway with a wide variety of optional modules and a specialist pathway in which around half of the programme is concentrated on one functional area. This is very attractive to students who are interested in a particular area of business (e.g. marketing) but still want a more general introduction to business than is available in a specialist Masters programme. Students choosing one of the pathways have the opportunity to carry out independent research in their preferred specialist area. To be successful on this programme, you will need enthusiasm, commitment and a willingness to not only work hard but learn new ways of thinking. We also expect you to show initiative and be able to work independently.
The programme is designed around a set of modules that are common to all pathways. These modules cover general business functions, strategic management and organisational analysis. These modules also guide you towards the achievement of the generic postgraduate goals of strategic awareness, developing leadership potential and understanding the theory and practice of international business. In the second semester you will be given the opportunity to specialise in specific areas of business by choosing one of the pathways.
If you prefer to maintain as wide a choice of subject areas as possible, you can choose the Business with Management pathway. In the remainder of the programme you will complete your research and writing up of your dissertation. Every student has a personal research supervisor and will be required to submit an assessed research proposal prior to embarking on the dissertation itself.

COURSE INFORMATION
Most companies have to survive in a business environment that is international, rapidly changing and increasingly competitive. Managing and leading such businesses requires a special combination of knowledge and skills - not just strategic thinking but also how to adapt to the different cultures and business practices throughout the world. The MA International Business Administration programme will develop students’ current business capabilities and prepare them for positions of responsibility in modern, dynamic organisations.
The programme is designed for students who have recently completed an undergraduate degree in business, management or a closely related discipline and who wish to continue their studies at Masters level. Such students should be aiming to join a company that has substantial international interests and receive rapid promotion to senior level. Students can choose from a variety of optional modules to develop their expertise in their chosen area of interest. The MAIBA programme attracts students from Europe, Southern Asia, Indo-China and other Asian countries - it is international in both the classroom culture as well as the subjects being studied. To be successful on the programme, you will need enthusiasm, commitment, and a willingness to not only work hard but learn new ways of thinking. We also expect you to show initiative and be able to work independently.
The learning process assumes that you have expertise in a variety of business subjects and aims to deepen and broaden that expertise. At the heart of the programme is the International Management module that will expose you to the challenges faced by managers of international businesses and how these can be overcome. Other modules develop expertise in functional areas such as Marketing and Finance while others focus on International Strategic Management and HRM. These and other modules also guide you towards the achievement of the generic postgraduate goals of strategic awareness, developing leadership potential and understanding the theory and practice of international business. In the second semester you will be able to choose from a set of option modules and thus tailor your study to your own areas of interest. In the remainder of the programme you will complete your research and writing up of your dissertation - this is a major opportunity to become an expert in some aspect of international business in which you have a strong interest. Every student has a personal research supervisor and will be required to submit an assessed research proposal prior to embarking on the dissertation itself.

Course overview
The BSc in International Business and Management enables you to gain an insight into the field of business and management set firmly in an international context. After following the broad introduction to business and management in the first year, plus two optional modules, you will take a number of core specialist modules in the second and final years. These modules will focus on international practice.
A key feature of the degree is the emphasis on setting the broad management disciplines in an international setting, in contrast to many “international business” degrees that focus mainly on economics.
With businesses trading across borders to an extent not previously seen, an understanding of some of the problems encountered, together with possible solutions, will help you to develop a deep understanding of how businesses operate. There is a growing demand for managers who have a global perspective, and this course equips you with a number of skills that should make you attractive to a range of employers, particularly multinational enterprises.
You will choose your remaining non-core modules from the remaining management modules.
Subject to satisfactory performance, you can transfer into or out of the International Business and Management degree at the end of the first year, from or to the Business and Management Studies degree, the Accounting and Finance degree, the Marketing degree, or the Human Resource Management degree, if your preferences change.
