How will economic globalization, the rise of Islamic fundamentalism, the emergence of the U.S. as the world’s sole superpower, or the growth of the European Union shape the future? The field of international relations seeks to answer those questions by exploring the behavior of governments, sub-national groups seeking independence or autonomy, international institutions like the United Nations, multinational corporations, and non-governmental organizations like Amnesty International.

International relations majors investigate the rich complexity of relationships — political, economic, historical, geographic, and cultural — among these actors, and how those relationships shape the world in which we live.
